International Women Communication Centre

IWCC-Nigeria is a locally based women's organization in Ilorin, in Kwara state.

Our Vision:

As IWCC Is to see that, the issues of women’s human rights becomes an integral part of our daily life and to ensure the  mainstreaming of gender balances in Socio, Economic and Political development of our Nation.

Our Mission

Is to constantly promote and protect the rights of women and children in Socio Political and Economic sphere of life. IWCC work locally and act internationally to improve women’s life through focusing on women’s empowerment, in socio economic and political sphere of life. Our work is based on the principles that every woman has the right to attain the highest standard of living, like her male counterpart. We concentrate on improving the girl child education, through the establishment of Vocational Training Center called (The women institute vocational center).

Our Goal:

Is to see a world without Gender based violence, Eliminate poverty amongst women & and ensure the Rights of women to live with dignity and integrity.

WELCOME TO IWCC OF NGOs in KWARA STATE

The International Women Communication Centre. It is an ideal that was conceived of by a group of women’s rights activists in February 1993 at the end of the International Interdisciplinary Congress of Women Conference. The Conference focused on the need to improve the communication network with grassroots women in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

IWCC-Nigeria is a locally based women’s organization in Ilorin, in Kwara state. Our mandate is to find various means to disseminate information from the international network to Nigerian women at the grassroots level. Because of our location in Kwara state, we serve as branch office to various international NGOs, including: the west-African office of the Pan-African Women Liberation Organization (PAWLO), International Alliance of Women Politicians (IAWP), Help Women in Distress, Women’s Voice on Radio Link, Groot-Super Coalition, the Global Alliance Against Trafficking in Women (GAATW), and WINGS Nigeria – Information Gathering on Women.

Our Ongoing and Past Project activities over the years are:-

  • Organizing the yearly women institute program to assist young Women and girls and school drop out to catch up with the former schooling system. This is done through Vocational Training and offer eleven (11) course work. This is to help ensure their formal enrolment in formal schooling system.
  • We conduct Advocacy program on the Pathway to Economic Justice and Land Right for Women.
  • We carried out Gender and Accountability Project (GAP-C) along with WRAPA.
  • Amplifying the Voices of Women in Leadership (WVL) Nigeria.
  • Prevention and Control of HIV/AID, Sexual Rights and Corona Virus (COVID-19).
  • Prevention of Gender Based Violence and conflict resolutions and peace building.

Our Accomplishments in the last (20) years

  • Trained and Graduated over 5000 women and girls on Vocational Skills since (2001 to date 2020)
  • Participated in Election Monitoring through Training Monitoring Group (TMG) and Situation Room Partnership.
  • Carried out several HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Rights Programs that touches the lives of over 5000 women and girls
